RECENT WORK: GIANTS DIGITAL DUGOUT
BACKGROUND:
- The Digital Digout is a web site only accessable by a user with a WiFi enabled device while they are at AT&T Park.
- iPhone, iTouch, and PSP's along with WiFi enabled laptops can access the system.
- Birdsall Interactive has been working with the SF Giants for nearly 10 years and with the Digital Dugout since 2004.
ISSUES:
- New technology and new devices have come into the marketplace and more users are using the Digital Dugout. iPhones are an all-in-one device that people are bring to the park..
- The Giants wanted to develop some great, new features for the 2008 season..
CHALLENGE:
- All content needed to stay inside the ballpark and only be accessible while in the ballpark.
- Numerous devices with different screen sizes and capabilities were logging into the Digital Dugout.
- We wanted to enhance the fan experience without distracting from the game.
SOLUTION:
- Birdsall Interactive created a system that will allow fans to order food from their seats using WiFi devices like the iPhone, PSP and Pocket PC's. Fans will pay for their order using a credit card and then pick it up from an express window.
- Birdsall Interactive programmed technology where users can see instant replays within 3 minutes of the event. Great pitch? Double Play? Now fans can see it in the palm of their hands.
- The Digital Dugout continues to offer games, stats and other services to Giants' fans while they watch a baseball game at AT&T Park..
RESULT:
- For the same time last year, usage has increased over 45%..
- Usage will only increase as more and more people bring WiFi enabled devices with them, like the iPhone and iTouch.
- You tell me. Come on out to the ballpark!.
CLOSED CAPTIONING:
- Birdsall Interactive is also helping the hearing impaired with in-venue closed captioning of the PA announcer.
